What started as a studio project staging an immersive park-wide performance of Harry Nilsson's 1970 narrative album "The Point" has become an entrepreneurial outdoor performance initiative to strengthen social capital in neighborhoods across Iowa while empowering communities to use their parks as a vibrant hub of intergenerational collaboration and devised performance.
Acoustic Paintbrush Productions will be a team of five interdisciplinary artists, designers, and storytellers who partner with local musicians to create immersive outdoor performance experiences across Iowa that are free for the community to attend. We're a nonprofit organization in our initial development phase seeking feedback, ideas, and interested partners to collaborate with.
The initial concept was shared in a 90-second pitch at the College-by-College Pitch-Off, moved on to the ISU Innovation Pitch Competition, and was presented three times at the Iowa State Fair Pitch Competition.
